This Is the Best-Selling Serum in French Pharmacies

May 07, 2020 at 06:30AM Finding a beauty product you love is a double-edged sword: On the one hand, it’s a relief to find something that works for you, but on the other, you realise your obsession will cost you a pretty penny over the years. Several years ago, I got hooked on Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (£46) and have since purchased at least 15 bottles. No, I don’t want to do the maths and find out how much that’s cost me. I’m clearly not the only one smitten: In the brand’s recent Instagram post, Caudalie proclaims that it’s the best-selling serum at French pharmacies and that one bottle sells every 30 seconds around the world. Impressive. So why do I love the serum? Let me count thy ways. First, the texture: it has a lightweight, milky feel that glides on very easily. It really wakes up my skin instantly, especially when my face looks as tired as I feel. It makes my face look glowy, fresh and more even. Over time, it also helps brighten my post-acne marks, which is what I originally sought out the product for. Be patient with results, though, as the marks won’t fade right away. The serum’s ingredient that helps with dark spots is called viniferine, which is derived from grapes. Last but not least, it basically doubles as a moisturiser for my oily/combination skin. If you have dryer skin, you’ll probably want to add a heavier moisturiser, but I have felt that it’s great on

I’m a Minidress Enthusiast—Here Are 23 I Have on My Wish List

May 07, 2020 at 06:05AM While I’m not a particularly religious person, I do wholeheartedly believe in the power of the fashion gods. After all, what else could explain the miracle of instances like finding the perfect dress that fits like a glove and just happens to be on sale? Or the last pair of shoes in your size, just as you’re about to give up hope? Call it what you want (just a coincidence, perhaps?), but there are fashion miracles happening all the time. Personally, I find discovering a new wardrobe hero item to be a little miracle in and of itself. And over the last few summers, I have been lucky enough to find a hero minidress that’s become a beloved wear-everywhere staple. Two summers ago, it was a tie-front gingham number, and last year, it was a yellow linen minidress from Aussie label Bec + Bridge. (I scored it on sale, and my size just so happened to be the only one left. Tell me that isn’t fate!)  Of course, this year, I’m hoping to find minidress success once again but have decided to take matters into my own hands, adding some extra research to the agenda. I’ve scoured countless websites and narrowed my search down to 24 wish list–topping styles. Between backless minis, embroidered options and enviable floral printed pieces, I have to say it won’t be an easy decision.  Luckily, I’m willing to share my knowledge so all this research will not have been for nothing. The Unlikely Place I Go to for Affordable Vintage Online

May 07, 2020 at 06:00AM It’s very easy for us as fashion editors to bang on about the importance of shopping sustainably and buying vintage, and while we stand by this sentiment, we also understand that the elevated price tag—and even the elevated time commitment—that comes with investing in such items can be a barrier for many people. Really, if we want to make these changes permanent, we need to find new and easy ways to make conscious consumption more accessible for all budgets. As a life-long vintage hunter, I can safely say that, for me, buying secondhand is by far one of the most inexpensive ways to achieve this, and over the years I’ve scoped out all the different options for finding the best pieces. ASOS Marketplace didn’t crop up on my radar until quite recently, but once I had a quick scroll, I was hooked. Collating the wares of hundreds of vintage sellers, the site is packed full of affordable throwback buys.  I’ll warn you now, though, that there’s a lot to go through, but this is where I come in. I did the hard work for you and trawled through the new-in section to find 23 spring-ready pieces. Trust me—it’s so worth it to find those gems. From Levi’s jeans and statement-collar blouses to designer bags and Burberry trenches, scroll down to see the secondhand buys I found on ASOS Marketplace this week. The 5 Weird and Wonderful Ways People Are Dressing Through Lockdown

May 07, 2020 at 06:00AM The fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli famously said, “In difficult times, fashion is always outrageous.” and while this might feel out of step with the normcore loungewear that has been proliferating on social media this month, there has also been a growing fashion-based backlash that Schiaparelli would be proud of. I will caveat this with the fact that, of course, there are far more important things at play right now, and many would argue that it is not an appropriate time to be parading round in one’s glad rags. That being said, for many of us, fashion is escapism. Amongst the doom and gloom of the news headlines, the odd outrageous ballgown or eye-wateringly bright, print-clashing ensemble come as a light relief. After all, fashion magazines have long been a source of other-worldly styling and imagery, and right now, you could argue that we are more in need than ever of a distraction from our day-to-day realities. As always, Instagram is an unlimited resource of fabulousness, and it wasn’t hard to hunt down a few oh-so-impractical-yet-undeniably-fun outfits that have brightened my week. From ball gowns and bikinis to socks with sandals and corsets, scroll down to see what influencers are wearing to bring a little fun into their days. Dress-up-Friday sorted. Style Notes: Minimalism, schminimalism. Slip Into Style knows how to rock a dress-up Friday gown for maximum feel-good vibes. We’ll be wearing the below dresses with chunky sandals now, and then with strappy heels for

French Fashion: 10 Secrets to Dressing Like the World’s Chicest Women

May 07, 2020 at 04:45AM French fashion may be mysterious and masterful, but it’s not entirely unattainable. The women of this highly chic country are forever at the top of the tree when it comes to effortlessness—no other nation could possibly contend for the title. But as well as adopting their relaxed attitude to getting dressed, there are style cues you can take and tweak to incorporate into your own wardrobe and bring in un petit peu of that coveted je ne sais quoi. It’s highly likely you know some major French fashion rules by heart already: For example, brushing your hair is a sacrilegious act, one should never scrimp on the day-to-day pillars of a closet and everything is best worn thrown together to encourage the perception that you’ve probably had a really wild time the night before. French girls are having fun and living life to the fullest—or at least that’s what their outfits tell us—but there are other, more nuanced factors that play into a Gallic woman’s wardrobe as a whole. And that’s where we step in. So enrol in our French style school, where you’ll learn everything from the grade-one basics through seriously advanced stages of being super chic. Our Gallic obsession knows no bounds, so we’ve already charted the best French fashion brands to have on your radar, documented their pharmacy buys and even snapped up a columnist in the form of a cool Brit girl who lives in Paris to tell you all about the differences between our two countries and

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Just Introduced Us to the Coolest Minimalist Brand

May 06, 2020 at 12:23PM Here at Who What Wear, we monitor Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s style very closely. Whether she’s championing the latest bodysuit by Khaite, or expertly pairing her must-have Bottega Veneta mules alongside the brand’s sellout clutch, you can guarantee we know (and have probably written an article) about it. That’s why we were particularly excited to discover the model’s latest brand obsession: Low Classic. In a recent Instagram upload, Rosie posted nine new outfit photos—five of which included a piece of clothing by Low Classic. How’s that for an endorsement? The model seems to have a particular affinity for the brand’s outwear, as she was pictured wearing a utility jacket, a beige blazer and a leather blazer by the brand. In fact, the utility jacket was featured in multiple outfits—worn open, zipped up and belted. Naturally, we decided to do a little digging and track down items by the brand ourselves. Turns out the Seoul-based label is stocked on Browns, Farfetch, Moda Operandi and more, and also happens to be a lot more affordable than Rosie’s other favourite labels, such as The Row and Bottega Veneta. Keep scrolling to see how Rosie has styled her Low Classic jackets, and then shop the brand’s outerwear below. Next up, the biggest S/S 20 fashion trends you need to know. Adele’s Birthday Dress Is From the Coolest Under-the-Radar Brand

May 06, 2020 at 11:00AM Fair play to Adele, she doesn’t often use social media and post much about her life but when she does, boy do we notice. Just a mere six hours ago the singer shared a picture celebrating her birthday (it was yesterday) and wore one of the coolest dresses we’ve seen in a while—definitely a spring/summer 2020 trend. A little bit of investigation led us to discover that the mini puff-sleeved frock is by lesser-known designer brand Elzinga. While Adele opted for an LBD, the brand is actually packed full of bold colours from sunset oranges to pinks and lime greens. It’s unsurprising when you consider the origins of the label—it was created by Amsterdam-based musician and performer Lieselot Elzinga and the line is inspired by live performances. The trademark silhouettes incorporate voluminous styling with puff sleeves on dresses and blouses, tapered-leg trousers and oversized poplin shirts with big pussy-bows. While Adele might not have posted anything in nearly five months, she’s already made an impact to our wardrobes. That, dear reader, is how you do it. Keep scrolling to see Adele’s look, shop her dress and then see the full Elzinga line.  Next up, the biggest spring/summer 2020 fashion trends you need to know.  Author Elinor Block | Whowhatwear Selected by CWC

This Is How to Do an Expert-Approved Manicure at Home

May 06, 2020 at 10:30AM I’m not sure about you, but my nails are not in a good way right now. My hands are dry, my cuticles are rock hard, and the nail snags are out of control. All in all, it’s safe to say they need some real help. If floods of social media posts are anything to go by, it would seem that I am not alone in my nail conundrum. Because it doesn’t look like salon visits will be an option for at least a little while, it’s time to take matters into our own hands (pun totally intended). To guide you through every single step, I’ve enlisted the help of celebrity manicurist Jenni Draper to reveal exactly how to carry out a salon-esque manicure on yourself at home. You can thank me later. When it comes to doing our own nails, this is the part that most of us decide to skip. It’s not particularly glam, it can be a little uncomfortable, and, all in all, it’s just a bit annoying. Unfortunately, though, prepping your nails before you get painting is what really sets a good mani apart from the rest.  After you’ve removed any old polish with remover (ideally non-acetone to prevent drying), start off by addressing your cuticles. “Apply some cuticle cream and massage it in. Using a cuticle pusher, start gently pushing them back, one by one,” advises Draper. And although it might be tempting, she also warns that trimming your cuticles at home should be avoided.

I’ve Spent Hours Hunting Down the Best Sustainable Buys for Every Budget

May 06, 2020 at 07:00AM Sustainability is on the minds of everyone in fashion right now. For most of us, our consideration of where and how our clothes are made has only been heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, the fashion industry was completely turned on its head. Last month, it was announced that London Fashion Week won’t be taking place in September with both men’s and women’s shows taking place digitally in June, which would usually be men’s fashion week. And just last week, Saint Laurent announced that it will no longer be taking part in the Paris Fashion Week schedule preferring to dictate its own show timetable. Without the carbon footprint of a physical fashion week, this move to a more sustainable fashion industry is one I hope will continue.  However, I have spent a lot of time researching and writing about sustainable fashion brands, and I know that while everyone wants to shop sustainably, the price can be a deterrent. For that reason, I’ve created a shopping list of pieces that includes more affordable items. I should point out that this means I’ve included a couple of pieces from conscious collections on the high street, too. This is because while I recognise that it’s vital we all start shopping less and buying smarter, not everyone can afford the super-high prices that often come with the sustainable fashion brands.   My highlights include a denim jacket from People Tree, vintage jewellery from London-based Susan Caplan (the necklace is only £25!), plus a tie-dye shirt
