These Expert-Approved Tips Guarantee Stronger Nails

June 30, 2020 at 05:30PM If you are the sort of person who can grow your nails to a length that has people asking whether or not they are real, just know that you are blessed. For the average person, growing your nails can seem like quite an impossible task. Take me, for instance. With what can only be described as teeny-tiny nail beds, my nails will always appear short at first glance. Plus, without a strong grounding for any sort of growth, they’re prone to snapping, snagging and breaking. Usually, I try to make time for a manicure around once a month. After a professional shape and tidy and once I have gel colour applied, my nails feel impossibly strong, like nothing could possibly break them. In fact, it’s when I have had a manicure that my nails are able to grow their healthiest. It makes sense, therefore, that the last few weeks have taken a toll on my nails. Without any hope of a salon appointment, and with my below-par at-home mani skills, it’s safe to say my nails aren’t looking their best. While some are brittle and snapping left, right and centre, others are paper-thin, flimsy and weak. So without a nail technician in sight, I thought it was about time I tried to do something about it. In a bid to improve nail health far and wide during these trying times, I reached out to those in the know to find out exactly what is that’s causing my nails to play up.

I Just Discovered the Cutest High-Street Co-ord

June 24, 2020 at 11:00AM When it comes to dressing for summer, I take the more is more approach. I go for loose linen jumpsuits, flowing trousers and dresses, white jeans, and seersucker tops with puff sleeves (all the better for ventilation). If you haven’t gathered already I tend to cover up when the sun comes out. That’s partly because I want to protect my skin but also because the UK weather is so changeable that I will inevitably get cold, and need to rely on trusty layers to cope with the hourly shift in temperatures. But then I spied a crop-top-and-mini-skirt daisy print co-ord from & Other Stories.  It has all the markings of an outfit I’d usually avoid—”mini” and “crop top” aren’t words to describe anything in my daily wardrobe. However, there is a heatwave, people, and both these items, whether worn together or separately have the power to transform an outfit. Personally, I love the square neck on the crop top and can imagine wearing it with a pair of high waisted wide-leg white jeans I’ve got in my wardrobe. I’d also say that the mini would look incredible with a white T-shirt or loose shirt tucked in. As for shoes—opt for strappy heels or classic white sneakers, from brands such as Veja or Superga. And if you’re into the full shebang, might I suggest taking tips from the two women below who pull the co-ord off with aplomb. Keep scrolling to see the look…  Style Notes: Chic heels and a

8 Summer Outfits to See You Through the Heatwave

June 24, 2020 at 06:02AM Having been born and raised in sunny Australia, I like to think I know a thing or two about how to dress for warm weather. While the current forecast in the UK is deemed a heatwave, for us Aussies, it’s just another summer day. Therefore, I thought I would take some time to share my knowledge of how exactly to dress when the mercury rises.  From denim shorts to flowing maxis, there’s no one formula when it comes to dressing for warm weather. At the end of the day, it’s all about what makes you feel cool and comfortable, as both factors become a top priority in these times. Personally, I often rely on breathable fabrics and fluid silhouettes, and as evidenced below, many members of the fashion set tend to do the same. In fact, between the linen shirts, swimwear as daywear and sun-smart accessories, it seems several of our favourites have perfected warm-weather dressing. I Think These Dresses and Sandals Go Together Perfectly

June 24, 2020 at 06:00AM When the weather is like it is this week, all I want to wear are dresses and sandals—the ultimate throw-on duo. As our routines slowly begin to resume, and we are meeting friends for socially distant picnics and walks, many of us are rediscovering the joy in getting dressed up again. I’ve worn some of my favourite dresses for a sit in the park and found that the right pair of sandals can help a “fancy” dress feel more relaxed and appropriate for your everyday plans. Many of the dresses below are perfect for low-key summer plans, but you can also wear them next year to weddings and formal occasions with a switch in sandals. My general rule when it comes to dresses and sandals is that the fancier the dress, the chunkier the shoes. A pair of Tevas or Velcro shoes are the perfect contrast to a silk floral midi dress. Keep scrolling for the 20 dresses and sandals that I think go perfectly together. Next up, see our guide to the key trends for spring and summer 2020. The 5 Archive ’70s Trends I’m Copying This Summer

June 24, 2020 at 06:00AM If I had to be transported back to one decade, it would have to be the ‘70s—well, fashion-wise anyway. I should probably clarify that I mean the more tailored end of the ’70s spectrum as opposed to the full-blown boho aesthetic. (Although, I can concede to the odd maxi dress.) It’s all about the sharp lines, statement detailing and bold prints for me. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something about the leg-lengthening effect of the flare and the rock ‘n’ roll swagger of a big collar that inexorably draws me in every time. I’m thinking Bianca and Mick Jagger in matching suits, Diana Ross and her glam get-ups, and even the odd appearance from a safari suit–clad royal. Yep, the ’70s really were packed full of all of the finest fashion inspo you could ever want.  Now more than ever, we should be looking to the past for future outfit ideas. After all, with glossy shoots on hold, why not take a chance to rummage in the archive? I certainly am. To save you time trawling through the endless depths of the internet, I’ve done a little digging and found five throwback pics that I love and am using to inspire my outfits this summer. From warm-weather gingham and kick-ass jumpsuits to safari co-ords and statement collars, scroll down to see what I found, and shop the look with my pre-loved edits. These Sandals Were Sold Out Everywhere Last Year, and They’re Finally in Stock

June 24, 2020 at 05:00AM Sandal brand Arizona Love popped up on my radar last year when I spotted a steady stream of Instagram influencers wearing the printed trek sandals. Jessie Bush, Erica Davies and our very own Who What Wear columnist Monikh were all spotted wearing the shoes. There was only one problem: They kept selling out. Thankfully, the brand has created even more styles and has been restocked on various online retailers.  Much like the Velcro “dad” sandals by Chanel, Teva‘s classic hikers and all the other iterations before and after, these are sandals of the practical variety. While they’re a traditional hiking style, the multicoloured fabric wrapped around the straps makes them so much more fun. The brand was started only a couple of years by French designer Leslie Halfon, but it’s become a real fashion-insider score and completely sold out last summer. So take it from us: You’ll want to get your hands on these pretty quickly before it happens again. Style Notes: Always joyful and colourful, Zeena Shah shows us how to wear these sandals by matching them to your outfit. Style Notes: Matching colours and patterns.  Style Notes: These pearl versions look good with everything.  Style Notes: Trust Monikh to be wearing one of the biggest sandal brands around right now.  Style Notes: More proof that these look excellent with a summer dress.  Style Notes: If you need some pedi inspo, then might we suggest a bold red for the leopard-print versions?  Style Notes: Another great thing about these sandals is that, despite the bold patterns, they
