April 24, 2020 at 05:05AM Fashion in the early 2000s was weird. There, I said it. From what I personally remember as a try-hard 7-year-old, I was obsessed with capris and tube tops, tiny knock-off Louis Vuitton shoulder bags (sorry, but my mom wouldn’t buy me a real one), and any sort of flip flop style imaginable. With that said, the women featured ahead were my icons at one point in time (Britney Spears still is but that’s a conversation for another day), so when I say these outfits make me cringe, it’s not because of them—it’s because of me. At some point during the early 2000s, I tried to dress exactly like all of my celebrity icons—Lauren Conrad, Mischa Barton, and so on and so forth. What they wore was it back then and recently, while I was craving a bit of nostalgia, I realized that it’s not just the ’90s that have made a major comeback, it’s the 2000s as well. From tie-dye to low-rise jeans, the eight celebrity outfits from the decade everyone loves to hate are bound to have you cringing and smiling and shopping all at once. And the craziest part is, once you see the outfits ahead re-created, you’ll realize you have probably one more or more of them in the past six months or so. You’ll see. Pictured: Rihanna, 2005. Low-rise jeans are back, whether you like it or not, and this summer the coolest way to wear them is with anything and

9 Body Language Secrets That Will Make You Look Powerful, According to an Expert
April 24, 2020 at 05:04AM Your body language can convey a lot, and you don’t have to say anything. Others might be able to tell you’re nervous, angry, or confident through how you’re standing or sitting. It’s crazy to think that body language can reveal a lot about what a person is thinking or how they’re feeling, but for most of us, actions really do speak louder than words. “If you want to present as confident, both your verbal and nonverbal communication matter,” says Madeleine DiLeonardo, MEd, LPC, NCC, a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Mind Body and Soul by DiLeonardo Wellness. “Psychologically, body language is very important because if there is a discrepancy between a verbal and nonverbal message, the person on the receiving end will be aware of this discrepancy and often focus on the nonverbal behavior. Additionally, as humans, we are aware of what types of body language indicate confidence and power and which indicate passiveness or timidness. Even if you are saying all the right things, your body language contributes to the way your message is being received.” So how can you make sure you get your point across and really mean it with your body language? How can you walk into a big meeting with an air of confidence? How can you have a difficult conversation with a friend, partner, or loved one and seem strong? How can you nail that big job interview? Honing your body-language skills to appear confident, powerful, and in control takes
I Do Pilates 4 Times a Week, and These Are the Only Legging Brands I’ll Wear
April 24, 2020 at 05:02AM When it comes to fitness, I’ve tried pretty much every kind of workout imaginable—from HIIT boot camp classes to hot yoga to strength training to ballet. But after much trial and error, I finally found the one workout that I’ve actually stuck with religiously: Pilates. I see the most significant changes in my body when I’m doing Pilates consistently, and I actually enjoy it. Who knew? I’ve been committed for a few years now and have even become somewhat of a Pilates snob. I’ll only take classes using the megaformer and the Lagree method, as I just feel it’s the most efficient workout for your time. (If you’re in the L.A. area, check out The Studio MDR. It’s the best!) Through my consistent Pilates classes, I’ve also become a bit of a legging snob. I need leggings that hold me in comfortably and stretch with me but don’t stretch out. Oh, and I’m partial to a super-high waist. I just feel it’s the most flattering and comfortable. I’ve narrowed it down to five legging brands that check all the boxes and I find myself coming back to over and over again. Below are the best legging brands for Pilates, IMO. If Nordstrom reviews are any indication, Zella leggings are a cult favorite. They’re super high-waisted and made of a material that’s so soft and comfortable you’ll find yourself wearing them even when you have no intention of working out. My favorite is the Live In High Waist Leggings, and I’m
4 Everyday Items That Work Best With Skinny Jeans and Leggings
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM There’s a strong chance you have a few standard pieces you turn to when opting for a skinny-jean or legging ensemble (perhaps that’s a specific sweater or a T-shirt silhouette). Well, if you’re looking for fresh outfit ideas, there are a smattering of key everyday items that team flawlessly with both skinny jeans and leggings. Although remember, in reality, your outfit combinations are totally based on personal preference, so any pairing you like works. To give you a sense of those pieces (think simple items that are also trend-forward), we scrolled through past IG imagery from some of our favorite fashion people to showcase those versatile go-to’s that look A+ with both skinnies and leggings. Keep scrolling for some visual inspiration and shopping recommendations to consider now and execute down the road. A slouchy blazer brings a modern twist to leggings and a graphic tee. While a white T-shirt and black skinny jeans is A+ on its own, the addition of the blazer adds a more “styled” element to the vibe. Coording cardigan sets are trending hard right now and team flawlessly with anything—black leggings included. Shop the coordinating Openwork Knit Cardigan ($60). Such a current fit featuring the sweater set, skinny jeans, and knee-high boots. Shop the coordinating Wide-Rib Mock Neck Pullover ($68). Keep it casual yet cool with a knotted tee and high-waisted black leggings. A knotted white blouse is easy and forward with those standby black skinnies. It’s no secret that a leather jacket adds
10 Date-Night Hairstyles You’ll Always Get Compliments On
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM From first dates to long-term relationships, we all go through that pre-date thought process that goes something like What will I do with my hair? (That is, if we aren’t already freaking out about what outfit to wear.) Our first piece of advice: Don’t overthink it. Your date is with you because of you, not your hair. Still, we understand following that advice is easier said than done. Who doesn’t want to look and feel great on a date? That’s where these 10 date-night hairstyles come in. Not only are they easy to pull off, but they keep the focus on you (in other words: no distracting, over-the-top updos to be found). Keep scrolling for date-night hair inspiration from the likes of Selena Gomez, Ruby Rose, Lucy Hale, and other celebrity hair goddesses. Plus, we’ve included product picks to help you get their looks. (Oh, and good luck on the date! Let us know how it goes?) Lucy Hale’s simple style gives the illusion of extra volume. Leaving some face-framing pieces at the sides keeps the focus right where it should be. Whether you’re on a first date or the thousandth, you can’t go wrong with glossy, non-fussy waves like Selena Gomez’s. Go for a simple low pony, or dress it up with a pretty ribbon à la Zoë Kravitz A simple topknot is great for dressier date nights (or if your hair isn’t behaving that day). For an equally elegant but slightly less stuffy look, pull a few strands
My 68-Year-Old Mom Says These Anti-Aging Night Creams Are So Worth It
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM When you’ve been interested in skincare for over five decades, you definitely learn a thing or two along the way. Such is the case with my beautiful 68-year-old mom, Lucy. When I asked her to review some of her favorite anti-aging night creams for this story, she sent me back a novel chronicling her entire experience with beauty products—even before high school—leaving me to edit it down and extract the good stuff. (Love ya, Mom!) But trust me when I say there is plenty of good stuff to go around. “At age 12, I fell in love with my lovely grandmother’s favorite skin treatments from Dorothy Gray,” my mom told me about her first interest in beauty products. “She bought them from elegant cosmetic saleswomen in white coats at the Rexall Drugstore. Her skin was luminous.” Since then, my mom has honed her product-testing skills and uncovered the most effective products for her dry/combination skin. “Years after learning about Dorothy Gray, I fell in love with everything French and became a devotee of Lancôme, my first department store brand,” she says. These days, she still loves Lancôme but also has a lot more brands in her repertoire, making her a great source of intel since she’s tried so many products. Below, I had my mom reveal her favorite anti-aging night creams that she says are tried-and-true. “As my face has started to sag, I have really appreciated this stiff, rich cream that is supposed to act as
I’m Losing It Over These 56 Items That Look Way More Expensive Than $16
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM We love an affordable roundup at Who What Wear. Usually, that means we’re finding “cheap thrills” under a price point around $100, but given the current situation, we’re taking it a step further to truly scour the internet for finds that are even more affordable. That means roundups of things like 29 items under $20, and this sweet little story you’ve landed on where there’s not a pick over $15. This catalog of 56 products is conveniently split into categories including basics, trendy pieces, accessories a-plenty (including a couple of saucy picks!), swimwear, and homewares. I may be partial, given I labored over the edit for many hours, but I’ve found a particular delight in being able to scroll freely in this story knowing that any slide that caught my eye wouldn’t be an out-of-the-question splurge. I know many are not spending at all on non-essential items, but you can always bookmark some picks for later or simply take pleasure in a little window shopping. Enjoy! If there’s one basic to buy right now, the racer-front tank is it. I couldn’t help but include three in this roundup. This very similar style from ASOS is even cheaper but has fewer sizes available, and this $11 racer-front tank available at Nordstrom is a great option too. I’m feeling the subtle bust highlight the ribbing provides. Gym class is in session, and I’m ready for it. The plain white muscle tank is beloved by many a fashion girl. Time to get
The $10 Accessories I’m Wearing for All My Virtual Hangouts
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM From FaceTime to Zoom, WhatsApp to Skype, there’s no question I’ve spent more time on video calls in the past month than ever before, staying connected with my fellow colleagues, my family, and my friends as we navigate our way through the current pandemic climate. The one thing I’ve quickly realized about seeing myself enlarged on a video chat is that my lusterless looks could really do with a little livening up—especially from the chest up. So for the past few weeks, I’ve made a point of amping up my top-half with the power of some chic accessories that don’t cost a fortune. (My bottom half is still reserved for cozy and comfortable sweatpants, pajamas, and shorts—or lack thereof sometimes). There’s no question I feel more productive and confident when I bring my sartorial A-game to the table, so below, I’m sharing some of the cool and affordable accessories I’m wearing for all my virtual hangouts—all of which clock in around a very favorable $10. Headbands are one of the easiest (and affordable) ways to add a cute touch to your look. While I do own several black headbands, I find a bold color adds a much more cheerful impact. Finish the look with a swipe of red lipstick because nothing brightens up a complexion quite like it. My hair looks anything but coiffed these days. Mostly because my bangs are in that seriously awkward in-between length (too long to wear over my eyes, too
5 Skincare Experts Share the Best Products and Tips for Unclogging Pores
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM In the pixel-perfect digital days of 2020—when every pore seems to be visible in selfie mode—it’s understandable to be concerned or even borderline obsessed with the state of your skin. We know healthy skin comes from a combination of a clean diet, a consistent routine, regular exercise, and good genes, but sometimes all those variables just add to the stress and confusion of an already overflowing beauty cabinet. Maybe you’re burnt out from work, or perhaps you overdid it with sunshine and salt at this weekend’s poolside barbecue… The good news? We have a solution. Below, we aggregated an all-star panel of skincare experts to share their smarts about all things pores including the tried-and-true ways of giving your face a thorough cleansing, the best products to achieve and maintain radiance, and other tips for glowing, clean skin. The reality is that if your pores are clogged, you’re in need of a professional facial with extractions. “You should schedule a facial that deep-cleans the pores and cleanses,” says Christine Chin. Renée Rouleau agrees: “As much as skincare companies want you to believe it, products will NOT remove them. When there’s a blockage of hardened oil that is impacted deep in the pore, it must be gently extracted. Depending on how quickly they come back or how many of them you have, you may need to get this done every two weeks for a while until you can get ahead of them.” Have a bad habit
Our 25 Priority Buys and the Ones We’re Putting on the Backburner for Later
April 24, 2020 at 05:00AM When we imagined what we’d be wearing this spring (as one does in the dead of winter), sweatpants, hoodies, and slippers weren’t really it, but here we are. While right now, our clothing shopping priority is comfort, that’s not to say we aren’t still daydreaming about what we’re going to wear when it’s safe to go out again. Given the nature of our line of work, our editors keep ongoing shopping lists (even if it’s just in our heads), which we’re sharing here in case you’re seeking some inspiration. Below, get a glimpse at the things at the top of our wish lists (and shop them for yourself, if you’re so inclined) and those that we really want to wear down the road. We hope you find something that brings you as much joy as these 25 pieces will hopefully soon bring us. “A thrifty thrill is top of mind right now. I’m holding on any bigger spending and will be getting my fashion kicks with affordable items that I know I’ll wear a ton.” “I’ve been so inspired by all the DIY tie-dying I’ve seen on Instagram lately, especially since the print itself is so mood-lifting. However, since I don’t have a backyard to work with at the moment, I’m probably just going to give in and buy a few pieces for myself and spare my apartment the mess. On the flipside, despite seeing countless spring and summer dress I’d love to get my hands on, I’ll probably be
